Two Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication provides an extra layer of security for your account. It is recommended by many security experts and is supported by many online services such as Google, Paypal, and Amazon. For more general information, see the wikipedia page.

Two-factor authentication works in conjunction with Google Authenticator (iOS, Android), Authy (iOS, Android), or other authenticator software. You run one of these applications on your phone or browser which provides a 6 digit code that changes every 30 seconds. When you login to your Mailgw account, you provide your username, password, and the latest 6 digit code to be able to login successfully. This means that even if someone steals your username and password, they still can't login without your two-factor authentication secret key.

To enable two-factor authentication, login to your account and go to the Account Edit page. When you enable it, you will already need to have one of the authenticator applications installed so you can provide the first login code.

More recently we've added the ability to add one-time-passwords to your acount. This allows you to keep a couple of passwords around in case your two-factor device is not available. See the Account Edit page to generate one-time-passwords for your account.
